DescriptionAs a movie about Hollywood in the 1960s, the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood included numerous faux movie posters featuring the characters in the film. BLT used the illustrational style of posters from that era to create much of the prop-poster imagery seen in the movie. In order to further visually connect the film to that particular time in Hollywood, the BLT team produced the final composition by combining unit photography of all the characters in a montage style. Illustrator Steve Chorney then painted on top of this composite design to make it look like a 1960s American film poster.

Throughout his career, Quentin Tarantino has often noted that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is one of his favorite films. Knowing this, the BLT team decided to incorporate Hobo, the 1910 typeface used in the title sequence and promotional materials for Butch Cassidy, in the top register of the poster. These types of Easter Eggs are joyous moments for designers.
