DescriptionThe Guerilla Girls were repeatedly asked by Hollywood producers to help them make a film about the history of feminism in the United States. In response, the artist activists created this satirical poster promoting an imaginary Hollywood film titled The Birth of Feminism. It features the beautiful movie stars of the day, shown here, absurdly, in bikinis, in the roles of famous American feminists; meanwhile, the filmmakers are all men, among them Oliver Stone, celebrated for his work as the director of often violent films focused on male subjects. On View
