DescriptionThis poster was produced by the Youth Citizenship Fund, one of the organizations based in Washington, D.C. that sought to encourage the 10 million voters aged 18 to 21 who had been newly enfranchised the previous year to register and vote in the 1972 presidential election. This very simple composition is based on a photograph of the cuffed jeans, bare feet, and guitar of a young voter as glimpsed from beneath the lower edge of the curtain of a voting booth; he is clearly meant to be a relatable figure, a man of military age who might well be registering his discontent about the role of the United States in the Vietnam War.
