DescriptionMike King is best known for the more than five thousand gig concert posters he has designed since the late 1970s. His subversive sensibility is also evident in this poster produced in the lead-up to the mid-term elections of November 2022. The ironic message is accompanied by a detailed image of devastation and destruction, including a decapitated statue of Justice, a crumbling Capitol, gangs of militarized police and groups of prisoners, a Ku Klux Klan figure, screaming children, weapons of all kinds, and a Normal Rockwell vignette and a triumphant Miss America suggesting a return to traditional roles for women. In the background, belching factory chimneys point to the imminent destruction of the environment by unchecked industrial production.On View
