DescriptionThis poster advertises a June 2023 Church Choir Party in Nashville, Tennessee. As the whiskey glass at the center of the apparently traditional letterpress image in patriotic colors hints, however, it actually promotes a celebration for the “Church Choir,” a club for fans of local country star Eric Church, not a sedate church social. It was published by Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop founded in Nashville in 1879 that uses its own collection of vintage type and hand-carved images in designs that explore America’s evolving cultural identity. It has made concert posters for numerous local musicians, among them performances at the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium. Like the other posters produced by Hatch, this limited-run print was overseen by a single designer from start to finish (including packing and shipping). Hatch Show Print has been owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville since 1992.On View
