DescriptionTwo giant Firestone tires, one universal traction, one rock excavator, next to tiny models of the vehicles they are intended for, promote the products and their many advantages in this Argentinian poster from the 1950s. While the designer incorporated eye-catching red and yellow, the emphasis in this text-heavy composition is clearly on practicality. Firestone was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1900 and became a pioneer in mass-produced tires, forming an early association with the Ford Motor Company. It opened international plants from the 1920s, including one in Buenos Aries, Argentina, in 1931. By the time this poster was issued, Firestone was a worldwide organization employing more than seventy thousand people.On View
