DescriptionThis poster, showing a Muslim woman wearing a hijab incorporating the stars and stripes of the American flag is from a series called We the People. It was designed by Shephard Fairey in late 2016 to protest president-elect Donald Trump and features people he considered most vulnerable under a Trump regime. This particular image is intended to suggest that it is possible to be both a Muslim and a patriotic American, a notion apparently rejected by Trump. Fairey designed the posters in this series in the distinctive illustrational style that he introduced to a wide audience in his 2008 poster for Barack Obama.
