DescriptionThis is one from a series of four posters advertising Alka-Seltzer. The humorous images feature the favorite local foods of four individual countries-- Germany, America, Italy, and Spain--that are most likely to cause indigestion and, therefore, to require the use of Alka-Seltzer. This particular poster shows fried sausages and potatoes in a poster titled "Germany" that incorporates lettering in the traditional German Fraktur style. Miles Laboratories of Indiana, the inventors of Alka-Seltzer, had been founded in 1884 and was in its heyday during the 1960s when it commissioned this series. On View
