DescriptionThis is one of at least six designs created to promote the 1925 Paris Exhibition. André Girard, Louis Pierre Rigal, Henri Rapin, and Robert Bonfils also made posters, each of which presents a slightly different interpretation of Modernism that would not be considered classically “Deco” today. The exhibition exposed millions of visitors to the latest styles and trends from around the world, many of which presented Modernism as a blend of the avant-garde and the power of mechanized production. While the exposition was intended to put French taste at the forefront of Modernism, submissions from other countries added aesthetic diversity to Art Deco, thus making it the first truly international style.
