DescriptionThis poster promotes the German release of Bad, the last film by Andy Warhol, the American pop artist and avant-garde film director, who said he wanted to make a movie about “bad women and incompetent men.” It is a sleazy tale of a woman (Carroll Baker) who runs an electrolysis parlor in Queens as a front for a “dial-a-murder” organization of female assassins. The poster, based on production stills from the film, was designed by Jamie Wyeth, a young artist whom Warhol had recently invited to work at “The Factory,” his New York studio; they painted each other’s portraits and collaborated on several projects. Wyeth created the poster in 1976 while the film, released the following year, was still in production. On View
