DescriptionThis is a poster for the 1987 East German release of a 1984 American film called A Breed Apart, distributed by Progress Film-Verleih, a German-Soviet company. This dramatic story involves a collector’s attempt to steal the eggs of a rare bald eagle from an island inhabited by a Vietnam vet who is also a committed conservationist. While the American posters for the film show photographs from the movie itself, the stylized illustration of flying eagles on this East German composition suggests that the designer had never actually seen the movie and had to work from the title alone.On View
