DescriptionThe Spanish artist and illustrator Eduardo Garcia Benito is best known for his designs for the covers and posters of American Vogue magazine in the 1920s and 1930s. His stylized female forms like the one featured in this poster reflect an Art Deco manner characterized by geometric shapes and luxurious details. They appear to have been partly inspired by the geometries of Picasso's Cubism and the elongated sculptural and painted figures of Modigliani that he encountered during his early years of study and work in Paris.
