DescriptionThis poster advertises Facis menswear, a brand founded in Turin, Italy in 1932. It began producing ready-made men’s clothing in 1954, introducing standard sizes and prices that contributed to the transformation of the menswear industry in Italy. The same year, it launched the first of many poster campaigns with a now-famous poster by Armando Testa showing a man running with a suit under his arm accompanied by the slogan “While rushing to get dressed, there is a Facis suit.” A stylized version of this figure became the company’s logo and appears in this 1963 poster at lower left. Designer Ferenc Pintér, who established his name from 1960 with his three decades of work for Italian publishing house Mondadori, producing numerous covers for books and magazines, also designed many posters for Facis during the 1960s, most of them focused on a simple but dynamic illustration of a man wearing the company’s latest style, occasionally, as here, accompanied by an admiring female figure.
