DescriptionIn this poster promoting the French men’s fashion company Darbel Everbest (one variant of this poster features both names and another just the name of Darbel), designer Paul Isola focuses on a reclining man smoking a cigarette in a bright red jacket to demonstrate the tagline “Always at ease.” The company also hired major fashion illustrators like Rene Gruau and Marcel-Jacques Hemjic. Isola was a prolific illustrator of fashion advertising images for posters and magazines during the 1950s and ‘60s and this is one of his most dynamic and colorful designs. It was produced by the well-known printer and publisher of advertising posters, Etablissements De La Vasselais, established in Paris in 1934.
