DescriptionThis early Solidarity poster features the slogan "Independent" and incorporates Janiszewski's distinctive red logo. The design is based on a vintage newspaper clipping showing a letter addressed to Obywatele (citizens) by Jósef Piłsudski in 1918. Piłsudski was a Polish revolutionary and the first chief of state under the newly independent Poland established in November 1918 after World War I. The connection to the demand for national independence of the embryonic Solidarity movement in this poster is clear.
