DescriptionThis relatively simple poster urges the Russian people to subscribe to the 1916 war loan at a rate of 5 1/2 percent. The image, showing a single solider of the Imperial Army advancing through a rocky crevice, bayonet at the ready, is described in a limited color palette within an oval frame. In March 1917, after the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, the army swore allegiance to the Russian Provisional Government and traditional poster designs like this one began to change.On View
