DescriptionThis was one a series of posters designed by Saul Mandel for LIFE magazine with the slogan "Bigness is a Fact of LIFE." The series was intended to emphasize the magazine's large circulation numbers to potential advertisers of products ranging from cars, mattresses, and washing machines, to rugs, shampoo, and deodorant. Saul Mandel went into commercial advertising in the 1950s and produced designs for numerous companies and products in the subsequent decades. He remains best known for his design of the Jolly Green Giant for Green Giant canned foods, the Puppy Love stamps for the U.S. Postal Service, and his posters for the Incredible, Edible Egg Campaign. The poster here features Mandel's characteristically, colorful, humorous, and almost childlike illustrational style.On View
