DescriptionThe Art Deco style poster advertises the Lattermann driving school in Vienna, still in operation today. The sophisticated woman in white driving gloves, confidently signaling with her hand, reflects the significant expansion of car ownership and of new social roles for women in parts of Europe and in the United States after World War I. Austrian women obtained the vote in 1918, and numerous photographs from the late 1920s onward show them at the wheel.On View
