DescriptionEladio Rivadulla Martínez’s illustrated poster design for the Cuban release of the 1955 Czech adventure sci-fi film Cesta de Pravĕku (Journey to Prehistoric Times) is closely based on the film still that dominates the original Czech poster. It shows a scene in which the four protagonists watch in terror from a raft on the river during a twilight fight between two dinosaurs. The film was directed by Karel Zeman and was the first of his productions to include special effects and stop-motion. It was also unusually successful internationally for a Czech film of the time. A version of the film titled Journey to the Beginning of Time, with new scenes and dubbing, was released in the United States in 1966, and the original even influenced a scene in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 Jurassic Park.On View
