DescriptionThis is one of the posters created by Polish graphic designer Jakub Erol to promote the 1987 American supernatural comedy, The Witches of Eastwick, released in Poland in 1989. While the other poster he designed is more conventionally based on stills from the movie, this striking composition evokes the moment when the three suburban witches in the film create a voodoo doll resembling their nemesis, Daryl, and stick pins in it. The suggestive details here also reference the sexual relationships Daryl has with each of the women. After training at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art, Erol worked with the National Publishing Agency and the Film Distribution Headquarters (commonly called Polish Film), for which he created several hundred posters for Polish and foreign films, often reflecting the colorful and witty motifs characteristic of the Polish School of Posters.
