DescriptionRené Lelong was also commissioned by a French bank to design this poster urging French civilians to subscribe to the 1920 National Loan, intended to support postwar reconstruction. Like his other fundraising posters of the period, it shows the figure of Marianne. Here, however, she is the central focus of the composition, dressed in eye-catching red robes as she raises a mallet above her head, participating enthusiastically in the restoration of her war-torn country.
