DescriptionThis official US Navy Poster was one of many produced during World War II by the Navy Department's Industrial Incentive Division to encourage workers to remain productive in support of the war effort. In a blatant appeal to the consciences of factory workers thinking of taking a break, the poster shows three images of battered and wounded American servicemen, two in the Navy and one in the Marine Corps, with text detailing their very real traumas. These are men who could really use some respite but are unlikely to get it. The portraits were made by two artists in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
